Ten: Preparedness

Part of enjoying life is recognizing the state of the world. It would be convenient to remain oblivious to the active shooters, mentally ill attackers, terrorists and other aggressors that exist, but not the best idea. While no one wants a life filed with doom and gloom or constant paranoia, in order to survive and live happy we must ask ourselves some tough and relevant questions.

1- Are you in good enough basic physical condition to protect yourself and/or the people you care about? 2- When you leave the house each day, what kinds of preparations do you take? 3- If an aggressor approached you or your home or vehicle, what means do you have of stopping or deterring them? The unfortunate truth is that many of us never think about these things at all. We assume that a call to the police will instantly solve every problem. We assume that under stress, adrenaline will give us physical abilities and skills that we never had (such as Hulk-like strength and speed). In reality, the police are sometimes occupied and may take longer than we anticipate to arrive. Adrenaline lasts for a very short period of time and doesn’t convey any special skills. We generally fall back to the level of our training. If there is none, then we do nothing. Or worse yet, we do something that puts us in even greater danger because we are not thinking clearly. The solution is to get some training, get some tools and be better prepared.

We want to help. To that end, this year GRMTAC will begin expanding the Greater Mobility & Tactics program to include personal defense, family defense and fitness to our tactical training offerings. Check back on the site and subscribe to our monthly Intelligence Bulletins for more information coming soon.
